PARTNERSHIP FROM OPPORTUNITY

Project Description: Imani Makaika-Mehta, the Executive Director of STEMS on the VINES/KC Creators Clubs, reached out to Propaganda3, a local Kansas City digital production company, for help with the website redesign.  Imani worked with the company's Summer 2017 interns, Jessi Breyfogle (production manager intern) and Maddy Best (user experience design intern)  to create, design, organize and launch the new site.

"Imani has a clear passion for the program and is always thinking of new ways to benefit everyone involved. Propaganda3 was quick to give their summer interns this project, knowing that it would be mutually beneficial. We enjoyed working with Imani while also learning and getting important experience in the process.

We see how important it is to get young students not only involved, but interested in learning STEMS. As young adults soon to be entering the competitive world of employment, we appreciate programs like SOTV/KCCC who want to help their students to prosper in their futures."

Educating youth about the importance of pollinators builds a foundation for protecting indicator species like the honeybee and monarch butterfly. Bridging The Gap was thrilled to work with STEMS on the VINES/KC Creators Clubs!

Teaching students through STEMS activities is important. Experiences such as germinating seeds and then planting them to create a pollinator habitat gives students a sense of purpose. Hands-on activities like these help make connections from the classroom to the real-world.

AIA (American Institute of Architects) Kansas City was pleased to come and present our Architecture 101 program to the students of STEMS on the VINES/KC Creators Clubs. The students were very excited to learn more about architecture, design and its importance in their everyday lives.

We were able to teach the students about careers in architecture, how architects use STEM in their everyday careers and work with them to complete a fun, hands-on project to design a building. AIA Kansas City continues to be dedicated to STEAM education and to working with STEMS on the VINES/KC Creators Clubs.

STEMS offers a pathway to helping guide our youth to a successful future. The Heart Of America Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., sees its relationship to STEMS on the VINES/KC Creators Clubs as a winning team. Youth participants will have an opportunity to help preserve the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen while acquiring historical knowledge and a technical education to better meet future challenges.

We loved working with STEMS on the VINES/KC Creators Club students at Longfellow Elementary to share a MINDDRIVE experience with their students! This was the first time we have worked with elementary-aged youth and it could not have been more fun.

The students were enthusiastic and the staff were 100% supportive of the program. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with STEMS on the VINES/KC Creators Clubs and our neighborhood elementary school in the future.

Paula Guinn, Executive Director of MINDDRIVE
